Reader Precision Recognizes Youth Apprentices During Annual Manufacturing Day Open House
ELKHORN, WI, October 8, 2026 — Reader Precision Solutions (Reader Precision), a Wisconsin-based precision contract manufacturer, welcomed students, families and community members to its annual Manufacturing Day celebration on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Held in recognition of Manufacturing Month, the event gave attendees an inside look at modern manufacturing and the careers behind it.
“After more than 30 years in education, I’ve seen how important it is for students to experience opportunities rather than simply hear about them,” said Barry Butters, Director of Education & Outreach at Reader Precision Solutions. “Manufacturing Day gives students and families the chance to walk through the facility and meet the people doing the work. That kind of exposure can help students see a future for themselves in manufacturing.”
The event concluded with a Youth Apprenticeship signing ceremony modeled after a college athletic signing day. Six high school students from Elkhorn Area High School and Career & College Academy were recognized for their commitment to paid, hands-on apprenticeships at Reader Precision while completing their high school education.

Reader, President of Reader Precision Solutions. “People are the heart of what we do, and our Youth Apprenticeship program is how we invest in the next generation of them. Celebrating these six students is one of the proudest moments of our year.”
Reader Precision’s annual celebration is one of the ways the company recognizes Manufacturing Month and helps build greater awareness of the industry and the opportunities within it.
Guided tours took visitors through the newly renovated 130,000-square-foot headquarters, following the manufacturing process from raw material through production, inspection, finishing and shipping.
Visitors also participated in the Showcase Circuit, a series of interactive department booths featuring examples of the work happening throughout the company. Attendees could see equipment and technology up close, watch live demonstrations and speak directly with team members about their roles. The circuit also highlighted the industries Reader Precision serves, showing visitors how precision components become part of the larger products and applications its clients bring to market.
