Reader Precision Solutions Welcomes Gateway Technical College President Dr. Veronique Tran to Elkhorn Headquarters
ELKHORN, WI, August 28, 2026 – Reader Precision Solutions welcomed Dr. Veronique Tran, newly inaugurated President and CEO of Gateway Technical College (GTC), to its Elkhorn manufacturing headquarters Thursday for a facility tour and discussion with company leadership. This marked Dr. Tran’s first official visit with Reader Precision since assuming the college’s top leadership role and continued a partnership between the two organizations spanning more than a decade.
During her visit, Dr. Tran met with RPS leadership to discuss her priorities for Gateway and opportunities to strengthen connections between education, industry and the broader community. The conversation explored ways GTC can help expand access to untapped student and workforce pipelines across the tricounty area, as well as potential forums and town hall-style discussions that bring manufacturers and educators together to identify shared challenges and turn dialogue into action.
Dr. Tran then toured RPS’s 130,000-square-foot Elkhorn facility, where she received a firsthand look at the advanced precision machining operations, technologies and career opportunities supporting the region’s manufacturing economy.
Dr. Tran was inaugurated as GTC’s president on August 18, 2026 on the college’s Kenosha Campus. In her remarks, she spoke about expanding access for students who are often overlooked and described GTC’s role in connecting K-12 schools, employers, workforce partners and the surrounding community, calling it a college that “sits at important intersections.” Thursday’s stop in Elkhorn put that idea into practice.
“Gateway has been part of Reader Precision’s story for more than a decade, from the students who first walked our floor as apprentices to the RPM Center my father helped build”, says Michael P. Reader, President of Reader Precision. “With the privilege I had of helping select Dr. Tran as Gateway’s next president as a member of the Board of Trustees, and opening our doors to her and her team, I am more confident than ever that Gateway’s best chapters are still ahead. This is exactly the kind of partnership our region needs and we intend to keep showing up for it.”
That longstanding partnership includes RPS’s Internship and Youth Apprenticeship Program, launched in 2013 under the leadership of Barry Butters, Director of Education and Outreach. Since then, the program has mentored 91 students, with 26 participants accepting full-time employment offers after completion of the program. In 2016, Michael J Reader, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Reader Precision Solutions, also helped advocate for and financially support the development of the RPM Manufacturing Center on Gateway’s Elkhorn Campus.
The relationship continues today through RPS’s ongoing youth apprenticeship, workforce and educational development efforts with Gateway and surrounding K-12 partners, as well as Michael P. Reader’s service on GTC’s Board of Trustees, where he has represented the Walworth County District since 2025.
Thursday’s visit reflected the kind of intersection Dr. Tran says will define her presidency — bringing education, communities and industry closer together. For Reader Precision, it’s also the continuation of a relationship the company intends to keep showing up for, one generation at a time.
